The literary expression of the battle has barely been studied as an artistic motif, in spite of the importance of the war as a literary topic in the Middle Ages and the Spanish Golden Age. The analysis of the combat as a literary piece of work shows the existence of several topics known and used by any author at that time, so that each battle was different. This article identifies those topics and analyses how they were used, which reveals unknown aspects of the writing process during the Spanish Golden Age.
