Castilian Romances of Chivalry are beginning to come out of the superficial visions to which they had been condemned by the critics a partial reading of El Quijote. But, in spite of the numerous studies in recent years, there are still some basic matters to be finalised, liked the listing of Romances of Chivalry which must constitute its corpus. In this essay a specific proposal is offered which takes into account both sides of the Romances of Chivalry, not only as a text but also as a book, not only as a literary entity but also as an editorial one.
