Sobre la correspondencia Cuervo-Menéndez Pidal (1)

a) Rufino José Cuervo (1844-1911) y Ramón Menéndez Pidal (1869- 1968) mantuvieron una sustanciosa correspondencia científica entre 1897 y 1909, cuando el insigne filólogo colombiano residía en París (desde 1892). Repasando la edición de Femando Antonio Martínez (Bogotá, 1968 en revista; 1969 como tirada aparte) de estas cartas, se observa la gran riqueza de datos y la inteligencia de las ideas intercambiadas en torno a determinados estudios, sobre todo de Menéndez Pidal. El maestro Cuervo se hallaba más bien en la etapa final de su vida científica y, en cambio, el filólogo español se abría con fuerza extraordinaria al campo de las investigaciones históricas lingüístico-literarias con proyección internacional.…
