En la comunicación «Grafías y equivalencia fonética. A propósito de una demanda de un maestro de primeras letras lojeño» presentada en el V Congreso Internacional de Historia de la Lengua Española dimos a conocer el primer fenómeno documentado de duplicación consonántica: se trata de diccipulos 'discípulos' (1696), solución que, Antonio de Frías, maestro de primeras letras, deja reflejado en varias ocasiones en una solicitud dirigida al alcalde de la ciudad de Loja en la que pedía que pusiera fin al intrusismo existente en dicho oficio.
