An exemple of preaching in Hispanic chap-books

The study and analysis of some «relaciones de sucesos» prove their possible links with preaching. It could be affirmed that preaching, focusing its arguments on elements stemming from popular religious culture, descends from the pulpit to get closer to the common people. A clear example of this link is observed in the «relaciones de sucesos» analysed in this article, where the sin of lust is attacked by means of a story in which the symbol of the serpent is used.
