La selva confusa and Cómo se comunican: twin comedias

Cómo se comunican has recently been attributed to Pedro Calderón de la Barca for the first time in more than three centuries. A comparison between this comedia and Calderón’s La selva confusa supports this authorship claim, since the parallels in the dramatic structure of the two comedias are numorous and noteworthy. Reasons are given to assume that Cómo se comunican was written before La selva confusa, which would imply a very early date of composition within Calderón’s dramatic output.
